Featuring large-scale art installations, live performances, hands-on workshops, and immersive experiences, the festival is more than just another event—it’s a participant led experience where collaboration and individuality feed one another, reimagining a world where we can shed our costumes, open our hearts, and step into the freedom of becoming who we're truly meant to be.

COMMUNITY AND COOPERATIVE

The Happy Castle Commune is a bold experiment in radical self-sufficiency, creativity, and community in the heart of the high desert. Together, we're building a life rooted in artistic expression, sustainable living, and collective effort, while building a cooperative business to help every Villager achieve financial independence.

It’s a place where innovation meets sustainability, where every skill, talent, and effort contributes to a shared vision of living in harmony with nature, our work, and each other. So join the cult... I mean commune. At Happy Castle, we’re not just imagining a better world—we’re building it.

At Happy Castle, we are reimagining the world, not as it is, but as it could be—a place where connection, expression, and sustainability are at the heart of everything we do. Every art installation, every structure, every workshop, and every moment is a chance to engage with others, learn, and grow. As we build this community from the ground up, we invite you to join us on this exciting journey. Whether you’re an artist, a dreamer, a builder, or someone simply seeking to live more meaningfully, Happy Castle Art Camp is your chance to be part of something that isn’t just a project, but a revolution. Come help us shape a future we can all be proud of.

A New Way to Live

Communally, Sustainably and Joyfully

An entire generation of artists, builders, dreamers, and scholars struggles to thrive in a system built to homogenize and exploit them. Happy Castle Art Camp is our response—a living example of what’s possible when people come together to create a community that values their humanity, not just their labor.

We built Happy Castle because we refuse to accept that society should simply be wage slavery to corporations that care more about quarterly profits than whether you have enough to eat, a place to sleep, or a planet to live on.

This is our stand against a broken system, and an invitation to everyone out there who thinks there could be more to life, to build something better. Join us, and be part of showing the world what a fairer, happier, and healthier future can look like.

THE MISSION

Happy Castle Art Camp

At Happy Castle, our mission is to create a radically inclusive, sustainable, and creative community that challenges the norms of modern society. We’re building a space where people from all walks of life can come together to live, work, and create abundance in harmony with nature. By embracing principles of self-sufficiency, radical participation, authenticity, collective effort, and communal resource-sharing, we aim to demonstrate that a lifestyle which uplifts the individual, nurtures their potential, and fosters meaningful connections is not only possible but within our reach. We refuse to settle for the life that capitalist society has designed for us—a life of scarcity, loneliness, and hollow consumerism. We believe in building the future we deserve, and we know it will take all of us working together to make it happen.

Through cooperation, collaboration, art, innovation, and sustainable living practices, we seek to create revolutionary freedom for ourselves and inspire others to rethink their relationships with the environment, their work, each other, and themselves. At Happy Castle, we believe in the transformative power of community and creativity to spark change. Our mission is to provide a space where individuals can connect, contribute, and collaborate toward a shared vision of a brighter, more intentional future. Together, we are building not just a commune, campground, and festival, but a movement that embodies sustainability, empowerment, and transformation for generations to come. And Happy Castle is only the beginning. As we pioneer this radical community, we’re determined to bring our eco-village cooperative model to the world.

An artistic oasis in the desert.

Located in the desert outside of Socorro, our 160 acre property is the perfect place to establish a community as radical as ours. The goal is total self-sufficiency, A shining example in both ecology and sustainability living practices and the human ability to overcome the challenges of even the most rugged environments. We aim to prove that community is possible in  even the harshest of environments when it's inhabitants build for self-sufficiency. Happy Castle Art Camp is not just a place to create and admire art, but is in many ways an art-project in itself. We intend to use Happy Castle as an open-air sandbox with which to collaboratively release our imaginations, erecting countless art-installations, attractions, and amenities.

Happy Castle intends to be a pioneer in experimentation and innovations in communal village design, alternative architecture, art, desert regenerative farming, and off-grid self-sufficiency.

SUSTAINABILITY

Environmentalism and Eco-Consciousness at Happy Castle

At Happy Castle, environmentalism is at the heart of everything we do. Our goal is to create a self-sufficient community that can sustainably support over 100 people, living harmoniously with the land while minimizing our impact on the planet. We are committed to permaculture principles and regenerative farming, cultivating food and resources in a way that restores and enhances the desert ecosystem, rather than depleting it.

We believe in the power of local solutions and strive to implement systems that support long-term environmental health, including water conservation, renewable energy, and waste reduction. Our commitment to climate action goes beyond just reducing our carbon footprint—we aim to have a carbon-negative impact on the planet, sequestering more carbon than we emit. By using sustainable building practices, growing our own food, and generating renewable energy, we’re taking active steps to combat climate change and set an example for others to follow.

Happy Castle is more than just a place to live—it’s a vision for a better, more sustainable future, where people thrive in balance with the earth, creating a lasting legacy of ecological regeneration.

ART & EXPRESSION

Radical Self-Expression at Happy Castle

At Happy Castle, art is more than just an expression—it’s the thread that binds our community together, a living, breathing force that inspires collaboration, sparks creativity, and fosters deep connections. We envision Happy Castle Art Camp as an ever-evolving art-garden, where each installation, performance, and creative endeavor becomes a reflection of the diverse souls that contribute to it. Our art is not just displayed; it is lived, interacted with, and co-created by everyone who steps onto the land.

The art at Happy Castle will be a physical manifestation of our community’s collective spirit—constantly growing and transforming, just as the people who bring it to life. Here, visitors and residents alike will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on creative projects, collaborate on large-scale installations, and participate in workshops that inspire self-expression and innovation. Each piece of art will be a chapter in our shared story, a testament to the power of creativity to unite, heal, and inspire.

SELF SUFFICIENCY

Radical Self Reliance at Happy Castle

At Happy Castle, self-sufficiency is a core principle, not just in terms of resources, but also in fostering independence, creativity, and growth for our residents. Our goal is to create an environment where each person is empowered to live sustainably, contributing to the collective well-being while developing their own skills and resilience. Through a combination of permaculture, regenerative farming, off-grid energy systems, and water conservation, we are designing a self-sustaining Eco-Village that provides for all our needs, from food and water to shelter and energy.

We believe that true independence comes from a balance of personal responsibility and communal effort. Residents are encouraged to take part in hands-on projects, learn valuable skills, and contribute to the cooperative business ventures that fund our community. This not only reduces our reliance on external systems but also cultivates a deep sense of pride and ownership in the work we do. Each person has the opportunity to explore their unique talents while actively shaping a future where sustainability and self-reliance are the norm, not the exception.

Living at Happy Castle means living in harmony with nature and with each other, knowing that your individual efforts are part of something much larger—a thriving, resilient, and interconnected community where self-sufficiency is the foundation for long-term success and fulfillment.

COMMUNITY

Radical Participation at Happy Castle

At Happy Castle, community is the heart of everything we do. We are a collective of artists, builders, dreamers, and doers, united by a shared vision of radical participation and collective effort. Here, everyone has a voice, a role, and a responsibility in shaping the environment and culture we create together. It’s not just about living alongside each other—it’s about actively co-creating the space, from the buildings we construct to the art we produce, the systems we develop, and the values we uphold.

Radical participation means that every member, whether they live onsite, camp with us, attend workshops, or contribute as an artist or collaborator, is an integral part of our story. Our designs—both architectural and social—are born from collective input, ensuring that every person’s perspective is considered and valued. We believe in the power of community-led decision-making and communal responsibility, where each individual’s strengths contribute to the whole, and every effort, no matter how small, is celebrated.

Whether you're helping to build a new Superadobe dome, designing a community garden, organizing a festival performance, or simply offering a skill to the group, at Happy Castle, everyone is an active participant in the creation of a more meaningful, sustainable, and interconnected world. Our community is an ongoing, evolving experiment in collaboration, where we all contribute to something larger than ourselves, and in doing so, we create a space where everyone has the chance to thrive.

Happy Castle

Farm. Festival. Campground. Commune.

Our Mission at Happy Castle is to promote environmental consciousness, spiritual growth, joy, and personal fulfillment through demonstrating a better way of living that is communal, inclusive, and sustainable. Inspired by the principles of radical inclusiveness, participation, immediacy, self-expression, and self-sufficiency, our aim is to create a permanent space for our community to thrive year-round, successively growing and expanding with every addition as opposed to serving as a temporary and periodic creative experience.

Happy Castle is a place that participants both experience and create. Our festivals not only serve as the foundation of the community we're attempting to inspire, but the main fundraising vehicle for future expansion. Come join the fun and be a part of building something truly revolutionary.
