We are beyond thrilled to officially announce that Happy Castle Art Camp will once again host Sunburn, New Mexico’s Regional Burning Man event, from July 1st-5th, 2025! After finalizing the contract on January 24th—taking a quick lunch break from helping build Rich’s Superadobe Earthbag dome—I can finally share this exciting news with you all.

This partnership feels like a perfect alignment of missions, values, and the shared spirit of radical self-expression, self-reliance, and community building that inspires both Burning Man and our vision for Happy Castle.

Burning Man is more than just an event—it’s a cultural movement that celebrates art, collaboration, participation, and inclusivity. Sunburn carries this torch, bringing together an incredible group of organizers, artists, and participants to create something truly magical and unique to New Mexico. We’re honored to support their vision and provide the space for this transformational gathering to come to life.

At Happy Castle, we’ve always been deeply inspired by Burning Man’s principles, from fostering inclusive, sustainable communities to embracing creativity as a tool for connection and change. Hosting Sunburn at Happy Castle isn’t just about providing a venue—it’s about building lasting relationships and collaborating with like-minded dreamers and doers who share our passion for shaping a better world. Connecting with the Sunburn community last year was such an incredible experience for us and hugely influential in reigniting the spark for building Happy Castle. We believe in this event so much that we lowered our fee from last year by nearly 50% and have committed to the same reduced rate for next year as well.

For those unfamiliar with Sunburn, it’s a regional offshoot of Burning Man in New Mexico that brings the desert alive with art installations, interactive experiences, performances, and a thriving spirit of participation. It’s a place where people gather not just to celebrate, but to contribute—to create something larger than themselves. This ethos mirrors everything we’re building at Happy Castle, where art, sustainability, and community form the heart of our mission.

We’re so excited to work with the incredible team behind Sunburn, as well as the artists, builders, and visionaries who make this festival extraordinary. This is a unique opportunity to welcome people to Happy Castle, share in the energy of this vibrant community, and inspire others to join us on our journey.

Looking ahead, we’re also working toward launching our Kickstarter Campaign to bring our own Happy Castle Art Festivals to life, proceeds of which will be used to build the commune and campground. As part of our upcoming Kickstarter campaign, backers who pledge just $25 will receive a ticket to our very first Art Festival. While we are excited to develop this new event, we want to emphasize that Sunburn will always have a home at Happy Castle, and we’ll continue to welcome them to use the land for as long as they choose.

Stay tuned for more updates on Sunburn 2025 and the Happy Castle Art Camp Kickstarter. If you’ve been dreaming of getting involved in these incredible gatherings, now is the time—come build, create, and celebrate with us!
